You might create or wear a mask, get in the mood for the upcoming Dark Sky Awakens festival and come Star Wars themed, wear stars, moons or planets, light up with led lights, wear images or dress up as a nocturnal animal e.g. owl, bat, dress in black or go all out in vibrant colours! ... Use your imagination and make us all smile!
Dark Sky Week 2022 is being celebrated around the globe to raise awareness of light pollution from April 22 - 30.
Coonabarabran is situated right next to the first internationally recognised Dark Sky Park in Australia - The Warrumbungle Dark Sky Park. Coonabarabran's 'Light the Night' event has been chosen to celebrate our dark skies and encourage all to discover the night.
It may seem harmless, but light pollution has far-reaching consequences that are harmful to all living things. Effective outdoor lighting reduces light pollution, leading to a better quality of life for all.
